With the intention to redefine the essence of the familiar "Sandwich generation" as an unexpected gut-punch, I'm adding this piece to the April challenge.
Thank you so much! I’m glad it landed with you. It’s such a strange, in-between place to live. And knowingly or not, we’ve all been witnessing its birth and evolution in real time.
We've all been part of this shift, whether we've realized it or not. It's both unsettling and beautiful to witness it unfolding. Grateful we get to share and shape it together.

Not what I thought this would be about, I've heard the term applied to 40/50-somethings who are raising kids with one hand and looking after aging parents on the other.
It fits here too though. It's a weird time to be the age we are, so much has changed, for better and worse since our parents were our age.
It's easy to imagine being left behind, letting the future happen without you. I'll try to keep up but I see myself resisting certain things as my parents did. I'll never download TikTok for example.
What I have noticed which is interesting is that my kids know mobile phones backwards but give them a computer and they're like my parents, "how do I..."
I see the future being all mobile devices and apps, rather than large screens and programs.

@Mark and @Moon Arica
“Sandwich generation”, what a well-coined term Arya.
Very interesting post which gives a fresh perspective on how we should view this life, great entry!
